![]() ![]() As an educator, he was involved in the research training of Renal fellows in the Division of Nephrology at the MUSC. Among his other major achievements, he received many awards including the presidential medal from the Vice President of India, served on the editorial board of various scientific societies, published several scientific articles and has authored many international patents. Soon, due to his academic accomplishments, he was awarded the Endowed SmartState Chair, which is a prestigious position offered by the State of South Carolina. ![]() In 2015, he moved to the wonderful city of Charleston along with his family, where he joined MUSC as an Associate Professor. ![]() Later he moved to the University of Pennsylvania, where he further expanded his work in this field. After becoming junior faculty, he moved to Indianapolis, where he joined the University of Indiana and established his independent academic career and started working on understanding the causes of renal diseases. After completing his PhD from Chandigarh, India, he came to the United States in 1997 and joined the University of Michigan where he worked in the field of kidney diseases. Deepak Nihalani received most of his primary, secondary and higher education in Delhi, India. ![]()
